Gratefulness-Challenge Day 8 of 21 by KnowledgeCollective
I must say, I’m truly enjoying this exercise in conscious gratitude.
Clouds in the morning - Yes, it’s counterintuitive to give thanks for clouds. Because I’m not fond of bright sun in my eyes my time in the morning, sitting in the big chair and watching the yard and birds and wildlife isn’t as nice at this time of the year. The chair faces East Southeast so the lower almost winter sun is a bit overwhelming. Early clouds today allow me to see clear and far without the shade obscuring my view.
Cold nights - The sky is so much more clear when the air is crisp. I love getting warm things on and standing out on the deck and listening and watching the stars.
Tigger - My favorite Pooh character is Tigger. I’ve always been gregarious and his pounce exuberance is contagious. He’s on the mug I chose this morning.
The Cracker Tin - Just below Tigger you’ll see a beat up old cracker tin. It was my MomMom’s, then Mom’s and now mine. We keep the peanuts we provide to the birds and squirrels and chipmunks in there. I love it, especially all the dings and scrapes. The love in the hands that used the tin are there in each blemish.
Silence - Eckhardt Tolle wrote a book I keep meaning to read, “Stillness Speaks.” Just the title speaks to me. The silence of the morning allows my mind to both settle and to search. When I am holding space - listening deeply - with someone in grief and loss the silence is what the rest of what they feel bubbles up to fill.
A Quiet Sunday spreads out before me. I wish you some stillness for yourself, even if the Sunday isn’t so quiet where you are.
