Gratefulness-Challenge Day 19 of 21 by KnowledgeCollective
Dandelion - When I was about 15 years old I was a singer, somewhat a guitarist, and an aspiring songwriter. My lyrics were more teenage angst than poetry, but some stood the test of time. My favorite is “Dandelion” and it tells a love story through the life cycle of the flower. The yellow of dandelions is gorgeous, but my favorite version is the round ball of fluff that blows apart with a breath and a wish. This motif is what I use for my Doula Practice. It symbolizes endings, the memory of the days of color, and the seeds of the future. On my desk I have a lucite cube with a perfectly preserved dandelion inside. How do they DO that??
Fizzy Water - We’re talking the kind with fruit essence and a bit of sweetness. Quenching thirst and bubbles, what’s not to love?
Walking Sis Home - On Thursday evenings my Sister works late closing the office, and when she drives home she’ll often call me and we catch up on her drive home. I look forward to the times we do this and these walks home are just one of the rituals we stay connected by.
Unexpected Song - On satellite radio in the car today I was listening to classical music, which is not my norm in the car. The programming turned to Billy Joel, who wrote classical piano pieces for an album Fantasies and Delusions. I have the CD somewhere and hadn’t heard it in ages, so it was a beautiful bit of music to come across today.
Cat Sleeping - our cats sleep hard. It’s important work, and I wish I could be that completely relaxed and comfortable in my skin. At this moment our big black cat looks like a giant furry croissant, his head curled upside down and one paw curving around his nose. If I come back in another life I want to be a pampered house cat.
